2022 written on a track

Happy New Year!

We know what you’re thinking; everyone always says, “I can’t believe it’s the end of the year already”, but it is, so we’re calling it out and ready to bid farewell to 2021. What will 2022 hold in store for you and your organization? As you are planning for your hopes, dreams, and ways to meet your goals, keep these three important questions in mind:

  • Is the goal attainable? Anyone can say they want to hike Mt. Everest or grow their business 10x in the next year, but that’s not attainable without the proper foundation in place. Create a goal that you know you can reach, and if you want to really push yourself, add a second stretch goal that comes with a nice reward for you and your team!
  • Is the goal measurable? If you can’t measure it, why do it? It’s great to say, “I’m going to send out more postcards next year to market my organization”, but how will you know if the marketing worked. Always, always, always include a solid call to action with a measuring tool. For example: “Bring this card in during the month of December and save 10% on your purchase!”. Simple but effective. They receive the postcard, they’re interested, they drive to your shop with the card in hand and turn it in for the discount. Now you know who cashed in on the deal, and hopefully, what they bought, you can measure how many customers used the deal and use that to refine your next marketing campaign. The same goes for ordering online; use a unique code for every type of marketing piece or a unique URL so you can track it all.
  • Can you and/or your team execute the goal? Let’s be honest, sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know, and that’s ok. If you have a goal that you are not set up to achieve, bring in an expert who can help. Learn from them and use that expertise as you move forward.

As we go through the rest of this year into next, whether it’s 2021 into 2022, or you’re reading this in the future, and it’s 2036, remember that it’s critical to define goals and be ready to execute on them in the new year. There is no new year’s resolution talk here, just a wish for your organization to grow into the success you hope for next year.
